Track Talk: Wolverhampton Wolves’ win could be a real game-changer

What a win for Wolverhampton at Peterborough on Thursday – I wonder if it could prove to be a season changer?

It wasn’t just the win, it was the fact they won by more than six and put four league points on the board which gave their league position a different appearance.

My view is they still have a lot of work to do. They cannot rest on their laurels – Peter Adams will ensure they don’t – and the play-offs are still an outside chance for the Monmore men.

Their home defeats are proving costly right now and they need to win away on another two occasions as well as remaining unbeaten at home.

Poole have all but booked their place in the top four, Ipswich are looking good (despite their home defeat by the Pirates on Thursday, which was a massive shock) and then it’s any two from four.

Belle Vue have had the points on the board for quite some time – but again a quick glance of the league table tells you they have ridden more home meetings than anyone else.

Swindon are looking steady at home – the fact they are unbeaten at the Abbey is a real bonus and a couple of away wins should see them make it, and same applies to King’s Lynn.

So to Monday night and Parrys International Wolves face Ipswich.

The Witches are solid in every department, but then again Wolverhampton look similar now they have Ryan Douglas on board. He flew around Peterborough on Thursday and made a massive difference.

It’s been a good week for Wolves with seven points from two meetings and if they can make it 10 from three on Monday their season looks a lot different.

It should be a terrific meeting when you weigh up the teams. Chris Harris always gives his best in every meeting, Danny King is solid and down at reserve Edward Kennett and Jake Allen are powerful. That said, I still fancy a Wolverhampton win.

Cradley are in National League Fours action up at Stoke tonight.

And it’s high time our lads gave the fans something to cheer after a tough season so far.

Results haven’t been what we were looking for, but then again we were playing catch-up with our team building when we didn’t even know if we would be racing this season when other teams were signing riders.

I can confirm our own Tom Perry was wanted by us, but because we hadn’t declared we were racing he had already gone to Stoke. I understand that.

Here’s hoping for a good performance from the boys at Loomer Road. It won’t be easy despite our apparent strength with Clegg, Halsey and Smith at the top end, but for some reason everything falls apart during meetings this season so who knows what will happen!

I wish the lads all the very best.
