The hosts scored first and last, but in between it was Walsall who dominated to claim a deserved victory as they put together some effective attacks and constantly pressurised their opponents.

Flanker George Perkins scored Walsall’s first try after some good approach play gave him the chance to go past some Newcastle defenders for a well-taken score.

Walsall’s wingers also got their names on the scoresheet again.

Cheval Taylor used his strength and speed to breakthrough, while left winger Zach Edwards scored after another of his speciality 50 metre runs that saw him weave past defenders for the touchdown.

Roger Weston converted all three tries and also kicked two penalties.
