Tividale are set to face a familiar foe tonight when they entertain Haughmond.

Tividale looking to kick on

The sides were involved in a battle for West Midlands League glory last season, with Tivi coming out on top to claim the title with the Shropshire side following them into the Midlands League as runners up.

Tividale have made the better start to life in step five with Saturday’s 3-1 success at Gresley making it two wins from three outings for Dave King’s side.

Haughmond have picked up just one point from three outings but King is braced for another test on home soil tonight.

“We had two tough games with Haughmond last season,” he said. “They played very well to win at our place and then we won at theirs.

“It will be another tough game for us, but that is going to be the case every week.

“We have noticed the difference in the two leagues. Everything is that bit sharper and quicker at this level.

“You get less time on the ball and the players have to think quicker.

“But we have got some good players and it’s great to see the lads enjoying the challenge. I have been really chuffed with how they have performed.

“To pick up two wins already great and it was a super result at Gresley on Saturday.”

Darragh Bustin, with a brace, and Dan Smith were the men on target against Gresley.

Walsall Wood came from behind twice to edge out Haughmond and extend their unbeaten start to the season.

Garfield Robinson, substitute Josh Cooke and Jay Holdcroft were the men on the mark for Wood, who are in action at Highgate United tonight.

Lye head to Racing Club Warwick looking to bounce back from Saturday’s 3-2 loss at Selston.

In Division One, Brocton are still boasting a perfect record after making it three wins from three.

Connor Haddaway and Regan Smith both struck in the second half to secure a 2-1 success against visiting Coventry Copsewood.

The win leaves Brocton second in the table behind Kirby Muxloe on goal difference.

Heath Hayes earned an impressive 1-1 draw at home to unbeaten Atherstone.

Rhys Horton fired Hayes into a first-half lead with a fine individual effort but the visitors levelled after the break.
