Alves also won silver in the duet performance alongside partner Georgia Baker.

Walsall Synchronised Swimming Club head coach Amy Baker said: “The swimmers and coaches did a wonderful job in their first competition of the season and we proved that Walsall are the team to beat.”

She added: “I am incredibly proud of them and their performance on Saturday.”

A number of teams competed for medals across a range of solo, duo and team events.

Next up for the club is the 2019 National Age Group competition in Manchester in March. The club’s recreational swimmers will also challenge for the Combo Cup title in July.
