Birmingham-born former City and Walsall striker Deeney, 35, made headlines with the shock change of sport last month.

Deeney was briefly manager at Forest Green Rovers in League Two earlier this season but was axed in January less than a month in the role.

But he was left "truly gutted" to miss out on the Telford International Centre event after a trip to A&E revealed two dislocated knuckles and ligament damage after boxing training.

Deeney was due to play in two matches including against world No.31 Marc Bijsterbosch on the 256-player event on the World Nineball Tour.
