The 22-year-old, who joined from Fleetwood last week, played 90 minutes in a 'proud' moment in his career, despite coming away with a defeat.

"It's mixed emotions," he said.

"It's obviously a proud moment to make my debut for Walsall, but it's obviously a frustrating game as we feel we should have come away with more.

"It's a frustrating afternoon – the set plays have killed us, it's disappointing to drop the points.

"I'm sure we'll work on it, we'll have a look back at what we can do better and go again.

"It's nice to see the gaffer put trust in me straight away.

"I've come into a good set of lads who have welcomed me, it's a good moment for me.

"I had a few nice touches but obviously it's tough to come straight into it.

"I feel like I've grown into the game as it went on, but it's disappointing to come away with no points."

Sheron added some much-needed physicality to the Walsall midfield, starting alongside Liam Kinsella and behind attacking midfielder Rory Holden.

He's now set to play tomorrow against strugglers Morecambe in a game Sheron isn't taking for granted – while he's excited to make his home bow for Walsall.

"We'll dust ourselves down and go again Tuesday," he added.

"You know what League Two is like, every team beats every team.

"But we'll be ready, trying to dust ourselves down to go again.

"Of course I am (looking forward to my home debut).

"It's a nice big stadium with passionate fans."
