Joint boss Alex Meechan believes ‘the tide is turning’ after Stafford Rangers’ last-gasp leveller at Basford United.

Dominic Roma’s own goal in added-on time saw Rangers grab a crucial 2-2 draw at the play-off chasers this past weekend.

They are now two points clear of the Northern Premier relegation places and Meechan, who is in charge with Andy Fearn, said: “It was a fantastic result and a fantastic display.

“Ever since we took over, the application and endeavour of the lads have been second to none.

“I’ve said to them that the ingredients are there for us to stay up, and try to build next season.

“But we know we still have to take it a game at a time.

“We have to make sure we leave no stone unturned and there will undoubtedly be challenges along the way, but the tide is turning.

“We’ve shown a lot of fight and been resilient as individuals, and as a group.”

Theo Bailey-Jones opened the scoring for Boro at Basford, who then took the lead through Jack Thomas and Shaun Harrad.

Bailey-Jones had a huge hand in the equaliser too as his shot was saved, but the ball deflected into the net off an unfortunate Roma.

“Theo’s been integral for us, all season,” added Meechan.

“You always know what you’re getting from him, and the squad is very capable of getting the results we need.”
