Chasetown made it three consecutive home league wins with a hard fought win over Widnes.

Widnes took the lead after 23 minutes ij controversial circumstances. A Chasetown player was down with a head injury but the visitors played on an George Lomax fired past Curtis Pond.

Chasetown deservedly levelled when a Tom Hill effort was cleared off the line but from the resultant corner from Callum Cockerill-Mollett, James Askey powered home a header.

Widnes were reduced to ten men when Myler was sent off for a second yellow card.

Chasetown took the lead with a wonderful goal from Will Whieldon. He advanced from midfield and saw the Widnes goalkeeper Wheeler off his line and lobbed the keeper from 25 yards.

Despite being a man down Widnes had the better of the second half even though Chasetown almost added a third when George Cater had his shot cleared off the line and Hill fired the rebound against the outside of the post.

In the dying seconds Chasetown added a third when leading scorer Hill fired home from close range.
