Chasetown made the better start and a Chad Degville header saw Ashley Rawlins fingertip over the crossbar.

The Scholars deservedly took the lead in the 15th minute. Degville’s cross from the right was brilliantly headed off the underside of the crossbar by Muzzy Nduna.

Ryan Wynter was denied a second Scholars goal at the start of the second half with Rawlins flicking his effort from 18 yards over the bar.

The hosts kept the pressure on and Jimmy O’Neill was narrowly over with a free kick and Chris Baker fired wide at the near post after some patient build up play.

Substitute George Cater kept up Chasetown’s love affair with the woodwork, striking the post for the sixth time in three games.

In the final minute, three Chasetown players broke clear through a non existent Drayton defence and Jake Lovatt coolly slotted past Rawlins.
