Stourbridge 1 Kings Lynn 2 - Report

Stourbridge surrendered second spot as Kings Lynn clinched the runners-up position by pulling off a 2-1 success that was more convincing than the scoreline suggests.

Kings Lynn coped much better with the wind-swept conditions and hit the post with a long range Ryan Jarvis free kick before taking the lead on 41 minutes when Adam Marriott swept home following a fine three man move.

Marriott added a second goal on 63 minutes after former Kidderminster Harriers striker Michael Gash squared the ball across the face of goal.

Stourbridge hit back on 70 minutes with a stunning goal from dangerman Greg Mills who cut inside before crashing home a 30 yard thunderbolt.

But in the closing stages it was Kings Lynn who carved out all the chances.

Glassboys goalkeeper James Wren produced a wonderful point blank save to keep out a close range Ryan Jarvis header on 82 minutes.

Then on 90 minutes, Marriott missed the chance to complete his hat-trick when he robbed defender Aaron Hayden but then fired wide of an open goal.

The result means Stourbridge will entertain Alvechurch in the play-off semi-finals at Amblecote on Wednesday night.
