Gareth Southgate's Three Lions are in Sofia for a Group A clash, aiming to bounce back from Friday’s 2-1 defeat in the Czech Republic.

After seeing his side ship five goals in their last two qualifiers, boss Gareth Southgate is considering changes to his defence.

And Mings’ impressive form for Villa will be rewarded with a place in the’s starting XI, in place of Everton's Michael Keane.

The 26-year-old will become the 73rd Villa player to be capped by England and the first to represent the senior national side since Fabian Delph in 2015.

Meanwhile, Mings’ Villa team-mate John McGinn admitted he was “buzzing” after netting his first hat-trick for Scotland.

The midfielder bagged a treble as Scotland eased to a 6-0 win at home to San Marino in their Euro Championships Group I qualifier at Hampden.

“I’m buzzing, but the main thing was to get back to winning ways and put on a good performance and I think we did that,” said McGinn.

“It was needed, because as a country we’re hurting. We’re hurting in the same way the supporters are. The coaching staff are all desperate to make this country successful, so we’ll be doing all we can when we pick up poor results. I know it doesn’t make everything sweet again, but it makes it a lot more positive.”
