For the second successive weekend, Beacon fixtures were decimated – just two games went ahead – due to the countrywide storms, but they could not stop United marching on.

They made it 16 games unbeaten, in this their debut league campaign, when easing to a 4-0 home success over Cannock United on a 3G pitch at Coseley Leisure Centre.

It was two goals in each half for United, who chalked up their 15th league win thanks to Sam Astley (two), Jay Crumpton and Luke Hickman.

This latest triumph also enabled United to stretch their advantage at the head of the league’s second tier to 14 points.

In the only other fixture to beat the weather, basement outfit Coseley FC secured only their second league win of the season, emerging impressive 6-1 victors away to local rivals Gornal Rangers.

This clash also took place on a 3G surface and Coseley held a narrow 1-0 advantage at the break.

However, Coseley took charge in the second period and hit Gornal with a superb five-goal blast as Dan Burns led the way with a fine treble.

He received good support from Andrew Meredith, newcomer Reece Chambers and Connor Powell, while an own goal presented Gornal with their late consolation.

The league’s two remaining NDT Midlands Lester Charity Cup quarter-final ties, postponed earlier this month, have been rescheduled for Sunday, March 1.

They feature CTS United who visit top flight outfit Beacon Lions while Shere Punjab Wolves entertain fellow Championship rivals Trysull Tigers. Claregate Park Rangers 2nds and Sedgley and Gornal United have already secured their semi-final tickets.
