More than two weeks after the smash, a 39-year-old cyclist remains in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car on Park Lane East at around 4.50pm on Wednesday, December 18.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with police enquiries.

Officers are now appealing for anyone with dash cam footage to come forward. They also wish to speak to a man who helped the cyclist, as well as the occupants of a car which exited the tunnel just before the crash.

Sergeant Dean Caswell from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We need anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch with us as soon as possible.

“In particular, I am keen to hear from anyone with dash cam footage that may have captured the moments before or after the collision where a black Nissan Qashqai car hit a cyclist inside the tunnel towards Lower Church Lane.

“I’d like to speak to the occupants of a car who exited the tunnel just before the collision as well as an Asian man who helped the cyclist at the scene and provided his jacket to the victim.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact police via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am to midnight, or call 101 anytime. Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111. Quote log number 1798 of December 18.
