Victoria Street reopened last month but traders say footfall remains low

Victoria Street was turned into a building site for 17 months due to a £15.7m council pedestrianisation scheme which resulted in some traders closing down.

Many of the businesses which have remained say they have suffered huge losses due to low footfall, forcing them to lay off staff and pushing them to the brink of closure.

And they claim customers have not returned to their stores since the work was completed in early May.
