The Lichfield MP recorded the episode at the broadcaster's Elstree studios in London this week.

The programme will see celebrities raising cash for their chosen charities, with Mr Fabricant helping St Giles’ Hospice, near Whittington, Lichfield.

He said: "This was a charity programme and I was playing for St Giles’ Hospice based near Lichfield.

"Over 7,000 patients are cared for each year by this outstanding hospice."

When the show airs Mr Fabricant will be seen partnering veteran war correspondent and politician Martin Bell, with other contestants including John Pienaar, Iain Dale and the Prime Minister's sister, journalist Rachael Johnson.

Mr Fabricant previously appeared on Pointless in 2018 alongside comedian Rory Bremner. He has also been on Have I Got News for You, and starred in an episode of First Dates in 2017, during which he joked that he had lent Boris Johnson his hair.

Pointless has run for 33 series – including 11 celebrity series – since its launch in August 2009.
