The Stourport-based 16th Wyre Forest (St Michael’s) Scout troop lifted the coveted Bald Eagle Trophy with a fine display of team work and navigation skills.

A total of 62 Scout teams from all over Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire took part in the annual event held this year at the local Scouts’ activity centre at Rhydd Covert on the edge of Kidderminster.

Scout leader Mark Atkinson said: “I am very proud of my Scouts for winning this difficult challenge against so many others.

“Scouting is all about giving young people skills for life and the determination, teamwork and navigation skills they showed during the competition underlined their exceptional abilities.”

The two-day competition involved taking part in a wide range of team-based tasks before a challenging night-time hike around the Wyre Forest area.
