Pensioner hit by car in Wednesfield

A pensioner remains in hospital after she was struck by a car in Wednesfield.

The woman, in her 80s, was hit by a car in Lichfield Road on Saturday at around 9am.

She remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital, a police spokesman confirmed.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and has been assisting police.

West Midlands Police officers are now calling for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police were called to Lichfield Road, Wednesfield at 9am on Saturday 15 June to reports a pedestrian was hit by an oncoming car.

"A woman in her 80s was taken to hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

"The driver of the car stopped at the scene and assisted police in their enquiries."
