Wolverhampton house fire starts in back bedroom

A fire has torn through a Wolverhampton home.

Two fire crews with eight firefighters were called to a house on Finchfield Lane just before 1pm today.

Smoke was seen bellowing from the bathroom window after the fire started in the back bedroom of the home.

No-one was in the property at the time.

A West Midlands Fire Service spokesman said: "We were called at 12.51pm to reports of smoke coming from the bathroom window of a property on Finchfield Lane.

"A fire engine and brigade response vehicle from Wolverhampton, with eight firefighters, were sent to the scene.

"The fire started in the back bedroom of the property.

"No-one was in the property at the time and it has now been extinguished.

"Officers are now trying to contact the homeowner to tell them about the incident.

"The cause is not yet known and it is still being investigated."
