Councillor Bilson, who was also the deputy leader of Wovlerhampton Council, passed away earlier this month at the age of 66.

His funeral will take place at St Peter's Church in Wolverhampton on Wednesday, March 11, at midday.

It will be followed by a private committal at Bushbury Crematorium for family only.

Councillor Bilson served the city for almost four decades. He leaves behind wife Nicky, children James and Emma, daughter in law Audrey, son in law Chris, six grandchildren and his brother, Ken.

A book of condolence remains open at Wolverhampton Civic Centre for visitors to leave comments and pay their respects.

Speaking on behalf of the family son James said: "I would like to thank everyone for the kind words and tributes we have received.

"We have been overwhelmed by the response and take great comfort in reading the hundreds of kind messages from people who knew our dad as a friend, colleague or councillor.”
