WATCH: Matt Murray makes special visit to Wolverhampton primary school
Wolves star Matt Murray delighted school pupils in Wolverhampton as he made a special visit to Woodfield Primary.
The former goalkeeper went along to meet students in celebration of the merger of Woodfield infant and junior schools to create Woodfield Primary.
Headteacher Philip Salisbury said it was a “brilliant day”.

He said: “It was just brilliant. Matt was an inspiration, and the children loved him.
“We had quite a few celebrations in the day - there has been a school here for more than 100 years but now we’re starting a new chapter as Woodfield Primary.
“We’re on a bit of a journey and Matt came to help us put the cherry on top of the cake.”
Thirty-eight-year-old Matt, who grew up round the corner from the school, spent his entire career at Wolves but was forced to retire at age 29 after numerous injuries.
During his visit he spent time talking to the children, and answering questions they had prepared.
Mr Salisbury added: “The children did their research before he came and had some questions to ask him. They asked him who his inspiration was, and other on other topics.
“He said after they were some of the best questions he had ever been asked, which was really nice to hear. They were some really interesting questions.
“He said it was a long time since he had been in such a lovely school – and he spoke about his childhood and his education too. He was extremely complimentary about the school which was great to hear.”
Woodfield Primary, formerly Woodfield Junior School and Woodfield Infant School, is based in Woodfield Avenue, Wolverhampton.
