Police car mangled in Wolverhampton city centre crash
A police car was left mangled after it crashed while on blue lights in Wolverhampton city centre.
The patrol car was involved in a two-car crash with a Volvo at the junction of Stafford Street and the Ring Road St Peters at around 11am today.
Paramedics were sent to the scene but nobody was seriously injured.
The junction was partially blocked as a result, with delays on surrounding roads as cars were unable to continue anti-clockwise on the ring road or to travel out of the city on Stafford Street.
However the police car and Volvo have since been recovered and the roads are now open as normal.
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "A police vehicle en route to an emergency incident on blue lights collided with another car at the junction of Stafford Street and the Ring Road in Wolverhampton just before 11am this morning (Thursday 22 August).
"A 30-year-old man was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
"Part of the road was closed for a short time, but has since re-opened."
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "We were called by the police at 11.03am to the junction of Stafford Street and Ring Road St Peters to reports of an RTC.
"One ambulance attended and one patient was treated on scene for minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment."
It follows a crash involving a police car responding to a 999 call in Oldbury on Tuesday which saw two people taken to hospital.
