Wolves stars find charity art a doodle
Wolves players have joined more than 50 other celebrities – including Claudia Winkleman, Miranda Hart and Vic Reeves – who have put pen to paper to create ‘doodles’, which are being displayed and auctioned for charity.
The Anna Wilkinson Mockingbird Trust, which organises trips and meals out for young people diagnosed with cancer, is holding a special exhibition and silent auction of the doodles on Friday.
Wolves players Ruben Neves, Raul Jimenez, John Ruddy, Ryan Bennett, Jonny Otto, Leander Dendoncker, Ivan Cavaleiro, and Willy Boly have now donated their drawings to the cause.
Taking place in Worcester, at The Old Palace, near the cathedral, the Celebrity Doodle Evening is free to attend, with tickets available via the charity’s website.
Chris Wilkinson, of the Mockingbird Trust, said: “We asked celebrities to spend ‘a minute for the Mockingbird’ and have been overwhelmed by the huge number who have supported the charity by drawing a doodle for us.
“Not only have they provided their signed doodles but the majority have also provided a photograph of them with their doodle.
The doodles and photographs have been beautifully framed together and will be sold on the evening via a ‘silent’ auction.”
The exhibition and silent auction will run from 5.30pm to 9pm. The proceeds will be used to fund the trust’s work.
“We are not charging for entry to the event, but we will have a collection bucket for donations to the charity,” said Mr Wilkinson. “We hope to raise oodles from doodles.” Other celebrities who have supported the charity by providing a doodle include Peter Andre, Susanna Reid, Michael Ball, James Morrison, Nigel Havers, Catherine Tate, Dan Snow, John Newman, the late Ken Dodd, Craig Revel Horwood, Stephen Tompkinson, Ruth Jones, Kate Silverton, John Challis, Ainsley Harriot, Eamonn Holmes, Iain Glen, Hugh Quarshie and many more.
Even outgoing Prime Minister Theresa May has provided a doodle, as well as Jeremy Corbyn and Boris Johnson.
Chris and Wendy Wilkinson, together with their daughters Jessica and Elizabeth, set up the Mockingbird Trust after their youngest daughter, Anna, died aged 16 of a brain tumour.
The Anna Wilkinson Mockingbird Trust was named after Anna’s favourite book.
