Landywood Primary School welcomed visitors from the Julian van Stolberg Primary School based in a leafy suburb north of the Dutch capital.

They included the directeur (head teacher) who, along with teaching staff, spent two days at the school. The partnership is aimed at helping the children become global citizens and to give them an insight into a different country and culture.

Teachers and leaders in each school will share tips and techniques and Landywood headteacher Andrew Clewes said: "This is an exciting new partnership for Landywood which will involve every year group in our school. Working with OBS Juliana van Stolberg Primary School enables our children to learn about another country and culture from children just like themselves.

"We believe this partnership will result in lifelong friendships being developed for children across both schools.”

Saskia van den Akker, the head of Juliana van Stolberg, said of the partnership: “We are looking forward to building a bond of friendship with the teachers and students of Landywood Primary School.

"This partnership will offer many opportunities for our pupils, supporting the development of language skills and helping them to get to know another culture and become world citizens. We will learn from and with each other, even if there is a distance in between.”
