Homes plan for former arson-hit Wednesbury school site
Nearly 100 new homes could be built on the former site of arson-hit Phoenix Collegiate in Wednesbury.
The proposals for 84 new homes on the Friar Park site could finally give the area the boost it needs.
The site was previously the home of Manor High School, which closed in 2010 and then became Phoenix Collegiate until it closed in 2015.

It has lain empty ever since and become a target for arson attacks, vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
One fire, which happened in March last year, saw dozens of firefighters battling for hours as a blaze ripped through one of the buildings.
An outline planning application has now been submitted to Sandwell Council up to 84 dwellings, associated public open space and infrastructure.
The dwellings could include a range of two to four bedroom homes – but the layout, design and appearance will be determined at a later stage.
The homes would be built near to the Pulse sports spite.
A design and access statement, submitted with the plans, said: "The development will provide a balanced mix of private and affordable dwellings, public open space, footpaths and play space.
"The site is located within the grounds of the former Phoenix Collegiate and comprises of the former school playing fields.
"The site will provide a mix of private and affordable homes. A section 106 agreement will be entered into by the applicant to secure the delivery of these affordable homes."
Sandwell Council will make a decision on the outline plans in the coming months.
