The group, Power For All, say that now is the time to act on regenerating, developing and improving Rugeley as a whole for its residents, businesses and visitors.

Members of the campaign group, which formed on the back of the ambitious masterplan for the Rugeley Power Station site, say the area has seen a “period of decrease”.

Power For All revealed at a public meeting on Monday that they were in the early stages of talks to create a Neighbourhood Plan with Rugeley Town Council.

Laura Dunning, a member of the group, said: “We are trying to regenerate, develop and improve Rugeley and the surrounding areas. We need to promote Rugeley, give it a better image, sell it more.

“The area has seen a period of decrease and it is at a point now where we need to move it forward – we need to revive the area. The power station plans seemed an apt time to look to do something.

“We are not against the regeneration of the power station site. That site is going to be a large part of Rugeley.”

She added: “If we all get together and do something – at the absolute least we can hand on heart say we tried. And at the most, if we all worked towards it Rugeley would be known for everything positive.”

The group are also applying to become a constitution to be officially recognised.
