Flats evacuated after car crash in Staffordshire

A car crashed into a set of flats in Staffordshire forcing firefighters to evacuate residents.

One man was cut free from the vehicle by fire crews before being taken to hospital.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Stone, Eccleshall, at 8.55pm on Monday.

A fire spokesman said: "One male casualty was trapped by his injuries so fire crews had to cut him free.

"He was left in the care of paramedic. Two flats were evacuated due to structural damage."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 8.55pm to the junction of Stone Road and Badgers Croft.

"One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a first responder attended.

"We conveyed one man, the driver of the vehicle, to Royal Stoke University Hospital."
