Chase Park, in Hatherton, closed when receivers were called in to the site in May amid a wrangle over leases for the sports clubs involving developers and Sport England.

It went under the hammer at auction two months ago and was snapped up by multi-millionaire businessman Mo Chaudry, who bid £1.45million for the 25-acre site.

However, the 58-year-old, who owns the Waterworld leisure complex in Stoke-on-Trent and previously appeared on TV show The Secret Millionaire, failed to complete the purchase.

Chase Park has now been relisted for sale by Dublin-based online property auction site Bid1x with a guide price of £600,000.

Bidding was set to begin at 9am.

Cannock Cricket Club have taken over the former ground of rival club C&R Hawks, who have vacated their base, in Littleworth Road, Rawnsley.

Cannock Hockey Club have been playing their matches at Erasmus Darwin Academy in Burntwood and other sites since the Chase Park closure.

Mr Chaudry told the Express & Star in July that his plans for the site would "evolve" – but this came to nothing.

He then later declined to comment on the decision to pull out of the deal.
