Carl Storer, 21, died after trying to rescue a young girl from Chasewater Reservoir as flowers were left at the scene

Carl Storer, from Tamworth, got into difficulty while attempting to rescue a nine-year-old on Sunday.

And now a funding page, which aims to raise £1,000, has been set up in his memory and to help cover the funeral costs.

The page read: "Carl was 21 years old and a bubbly full of life young man.

"He had gone to Chasewater with a group of friends and was enjoying the sunshine as much as everyone else was that weekend.

"What unfolded next was an act of heroism, a nine-year-old girl had gotten into some danger in the water and Carl went in to save her.

"We are doing this Go Fund Me page to help with the funeral costs of a true hero and to help support the family at this sad time.

"Let's give him the send off he deserves."

A passer-by went to rescue the young girl from the water, but was unable to save Mr Storer.
