That was the heartfelt message from one friend to another who bravely had her hair shaved off to raise money for charity.

Claire Fowle, aged 36 from Tipton, underwent the challenge to raise money for MacMillan Cancer Support.

The head shave event was held at Brook Street Community Centre, Tipton, and it was organised by Claire's good friend Carrie Worsey.

Carrie, 29, from Tipton, started off the head shave before members of the public joined in, paying £2 a time to have a go.

Claire's hair will be donated to the Little Princess Trust, while cash raised from the event will be donated to MacMillan. Claire has managed to raiseover £3,000 so far.

Speaking after the head shave, Carrie said: "It takes an amazing person to do what Claire did today. She has long, amazing, blonde hair.

"Now it has gone to grade one. When I got the clippers on the hair, I was getting a bit emotional."

The head shave was in aid of Claire's friend Kelly Albutt, 33, from Featherstone, who has breast cancer. She wears a brown wig.

Hundreds of people, including family and friends, turned up for the head shave on Sunday.

Claire said: "I wasn't nervous about the head shave, just the amount of people that would be there.

"Kelly was the catalyst for this challenge. When she told me she had cancer I was mortified, so I thought 'right, we have got to do something about it'.

"This event was for a great cause. My hair will go to the Little Princes Trust, where a child will get a wig out of it."
