Tributes paid to teen killed in horror Black Country crash

An 18-year-old has died after a crash which saw a car flip onto its roof in Dudley, police confirmed today.

The teenager, named locally as Ryan Wainwright, died following the crash on Clarence Street, Upper Gornal, in the early hours of Sunday.

Firefighters also helped two other men from the car after it overturned, while a woman managed to get out herself before emergency services arrived.

Police only confirmed the teenager had died on Wednesday, after tribute messages and flowers were left at the scene.

One tribute read: “You will always be remembered, always put a smile on everyone’s face. RIP Ryan Wainwright.”

Another read: “Words can’t describe how heartbroken I am.

“Honestly you were fab If I ever needed cheering up or just someone to talk to you were always there.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “I can confirm that an 18 year old teenager did lose his life in that collision on Saturday.”

Police said investigations are currently ongoing.
