Katy Buxton's father Derek Myatt, from Sutton Coldfield, was diagnosed with bowel cancer four months ago and the family has been told he has just weeks left.

So 31-year-old Katy decided to take on the challenge to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK as well as awareness of the disease.

And so far she's raised more than £1,000 and has had to move her target from £800 to £1,400.

Katy, the owner of a photography business, said: "He was diagnosed in February this year and found out it was bowel cancer and had spread to his liver.

"He's had two rounds of chemo and was a thin man anyway and he's lost even more weight.

"I decided I would do the wing walk on his 70th birthday last month to raise awareness more than anything, turning something negative into something positive.

"Breast cancer gets talked about a lot more than bowel cancer but it's more common than you think when you start talking about it.

"It's happened very very quickly to my dad, they said he'd probably had it undetected for 10 years so it was a bit of a shock.

"He's been in and out of hospital since and it's been very hard on the family, especially his grandchildren.

"I'm excited to do the wing walk and raise funds for charity."

Katy will be taking on the wing walk at Gloucestershire Air Field on June 27. For more information, or to donate, visit bowelcancerresearch.org/Fundraisers/kates-flight-fundraising-page?fbclid=IwAR2r6BUzq4g_8oVLW6crgQjy0rj7-DwO8pesPQTl4sTOmrquqNCmEWbTpBE
