Police are investigating

Three men managed to break into the home in Langham Green through a back door at around 7.45pm on Tuesday.

They demanded car keys from a 36-year-old mum while threatening her children, aged just four and six, with a knife.

The thieves then escaped with a blue BMW and personal belongings, however the stolen vehicle was later recovered in the Sheldon area of Birmingham.

An investigation has been launched and officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Reassurance patrols are also being stepped up in the area.

Detective Sergeant Adam Hicklin said: "This was deeply distressing for the family to be threatened in their home.

"This is a place they should feel safe and it is completely unacceptable to put anyone, yet alone young children, in fear like this.

"We are determined to find whoever was responsible for this and I would urge anybody who can assist our enquiries to get in touch as soon as possible."
