Colourful creations helping bring in hundreds of pounds for NHS fundraiser

A schoolgirl is helping brighten the mood and honour ambulance staff working during the coronavirus outbreak by showcasing her colouring in skills.

Poppy Rogers, aged 9, from Perton, near Wolverhampton, was tasked with getting creative during her time off school by her father James.

And the big Arsenal fan got her to colour in a club logo which he could pin up inside his delivery truck while he is out during the lockdown.

Then they struck upon the idea to raise money for NHS workers and set up an online fundraiser for West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Ever since donations have been flooding in. Around £350 has been raised so far by the Perton First School pupil.

Whoever donates to the cause gets a colourful design in return.

James said: "It's been great and we are pleased people have been taking part. We didn't expect this. We're shocked."

West Midlands Ambulance Service shared the fundraiser on its Facebook page with the message: "We'd like to say a big thank you to nine-year-old Poppy who has been raising money for us by colouring in pictures for people, who then donate to her fund."

The family, including mom Gail, and Poppy's younger sister, four-year-old Harriet, have been keeping to the lockdown over Easter.

But hope the fundraiser will raise a smile.
