Schoolboy fundraiser Louis Johnson becomes ambassador for Birmingham Children's Hospital

A 13-year-old fundraiser from Wolverhampton has become a charity's ambassador after raising more than £9,000 for its work.

Louis Johnson, from Tettenhall Wood, will now represent Birmingham Children's Hospital at events after accepting the role.

It comes after the youngster was named in the charity's Hundred Heroes in recognition of people's fundraising efforts.

As an ambassador, he will now be able to attend events on the hospital's behalf – as well as continue to raise funds for them.

His mother, Teresa, said: "He does a lot of fundraising for the hospital and he just likes helping others.

"I'm really proud – he's been doing it since he was five and he's raised more than £25,000 for charity.

"He's excited for next year and there's such a support group behind him – the Mount Hotel in Tettenhall sponsor him along with the Mander Centre.

"He's done such a lot this year and he's even got Wolves fans supporting him and ex-Wolves players."

Louis, who is a pupil at Smestow School, is "so excited" for his new role, which is "something to look forward to next year."

The youngster, who has raised money since he was five-years-old, has donated more than £25,000 to charity.
