MT Globex is hoping to recover a trailer similar to this one

The blue curtain-sided trailers were loaded ready to help restock supermarkets during the coronavirus pandemic but were stolen from MT Globex in Pleck on Friday.

The burglars struck between 12.30am and 1.30am and also stole CCTV equipment meaning there are no images of the suspects available.

Operations manager Steve Tate said: "We've had CCTV footage from a site down the road which saw the lorry go past, but we've got no footage of the people who stole the trailers."

One of the trailers was found on Shaw Street in West Bromwich and recovered by MT Globex but the second is still missing.

Mr Tate said the trailer was a high-top articulated trailer with the registration number of TR04648.

He said: "One thing we discovered was that the people who did this stole our trailers with a lorry they stole in Peterborough, so they've been working around a lot of places."

He also said a reward of £500 was on offer for any information which led to the return of the trailer and had a message for the people responsible.

He said: "Have some consideration, because with what's going on at the moment, you are hitting people with this.

"For us, that load's gone and we're fully insured, but that's not the point.

"It'll take at least a week to make this stock up again, so you are taking money out of people's pockets."

If anyone has any information about the whereabouts of the missing trailer, call Mr Tate on 07968 405701.
