Since Prime Minister Boris Johnson introduced new restrictions on Monday, people are now only allowed to leave their home to buy basics, exercise once a day or travel to and from work if they can't work from home.

As a result police officers have been stopping vehicles and asking the people inside about the purpose of their travel.

Guidance from the Government says "every citizen must comply" with measures requiring them to stay at home and that the police will be given powers to fine people and disperse gatherings.

Force Response tweeted this morning saying: "D Unit response Wolverhampton first off stopping vehicles asking their purpose of travel.

"It was good to see the majority of the vehicles stopped were delivery drivers who produced receipts."

But firefighters have said not everyone is listening to the latest instructions as they were called to two car fires in the city.

Wolverhampton Fire tweeted saying: "It seems not everyone is listening to the latest coronavirus lockdown instructions.

"White watch have been mobilised to two car fires which affected fencing and sheds. Stay at home."
