Men charged after Tipton carjacking which saw woman threatened with knife

Two men from the Black Country have been charged with robbery after a woman was threatened with a knife in a terrifying carjacking.

The woman driver was threatened and forced from her car at Asda, in Wednesbury Oak Road, Tipton, just after 4.30pm on Tuesday.

The woman was left shaken by the ordeal, but thankfully was unhurt.

Following a short pursuit, the car was then involved in a collision with another vehicle in Upper Ettingshall Road, in the Coseley area.

West Midlands Police said that during the arrest of two men, of their officers was hit but not injured.

John Whyte, of Stuart Crescent, in Kates Hill, Dudley, has been charged with robbery, dangerous driving, assaulting an emergency worker and a racially aggravated public order offence.

Jac Vaughan, of Churchfield Avenue, in Tipton, has been charged with robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.

Whyte, 36, and Vaughan, 24, are both due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court today.
