Delivery driver attacked in attempted carjacking in Tipton

A delivery driver in Tipton was attacked after he refused to hand over the keys to his BMW.

The assault happened on Laburnum Road, in Tipton, around 8pm last night.

A group of people approached the driver demanding the keys to his vehicle before attacking him with a stick.

The victim managed to escape on foot – with the keys to the car.

He did not need to go to hospital, however his BMW was damaged by the gang before they fled the scene.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating after a delivery driver was assaulted during an attempted carjacking in Laburnum Road, Tipton, around 8pm yesterday (February 3).

"He was hit with a stick after being approached by three men who demanded the keys to his BMW.

"The victim escaped on foot with the keys and the group damaged the vehicle before fleeing the area. The man did not require hospital treatment."
