A fire at a shared house in Hednesford is being treated as suspicious by police.

Six people were evacuated from the house after the blaze started in the garage on Cannock Road on Saturday night.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and have said the fire is being treated as suspicious by investigators.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire at a house in Cannock.

"Officers were called alongside colleagues at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service to the property in Cannock Road just after 11pm on 25 January.

"The fire – which is being treated as suspicious by investigators – is believed to have started in the garage.

"Those inside managed to escape and no one was hurt.

"Anyone with any information should message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 737 of 25 January, call 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
