Thieves target two supermarkets in Halesowen

Police are investigating two break-ins at supermarkets in Halesowen.

Offenders tried to break into the Co-op, in Hagley Road, shortly after 4am on Thursday morning.

The culprits failed to gain access and fled the scene empty-handed.

Shortly afterwards, alcohol was stolen from the Co-op, in Bassnage Road.

West Midlands Police are linking the two break-ins – and are urging witnesses to come forward.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police were called to an attempted burglary at Co-op, Hagley Road, in Halesowen, just after 4am on Thursday. Offenders failed to gain access to the shop and fled empty-handed.

"There was a break-in at a Co-op in Bassnage Road, in Halesowen, not long afterwards and alcohol was taken.

"These are believed to be linked and anyone with information is asked to contact police."
