Police are now urging residents to be vigilant after the surge in crime in Persehouse Street and Union Street in Chuckery.

Thieves have been breaking into cars and vans in the area to steal dash cams left visible by owners.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "We have noticed there has been an increase in vehicle crime around Persehouse Street and Union Street in the Chuckery area of Walsall.

"We advise residents around this area to be extra vigilant and if they do see any suspicious behaviour then to contact 101 and report it.

"Also we advise vehicle owners to make sure they lock all car/ van doors and make sure they have closed all windows as well remembering not to leave anything that is valuable in your car.

"For example it is coming to our attention that offenders are now breaking cars/ vans windows for dash cams."
