BMW rammed off the road in Wolverhampton road rage incident

Police have launched an investigation after men were seen with a hammer and baseball bat – before a vehicle was rammed off the road in Wolverhampton.

The road rage incident took place outside the Gatehouse pub, just off Mercury Drive, just after 1am this morning.

A BMW was parked up in the pub's car park, when a Volkswagen drove near to it – and three men were seen brandishing a hammer and baseball bat.

The BMW driver left the scene and was followed by the Volkswagen, before being rammed off the road.

No injuries have been reported.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating a road rage incident outside the Gatehouse pub just off Mercury Drive in the Donington Grove area of Wolverhampton just after 1am.

"A BMW car was stationary in the car park when a Volkswagen Passat car drove near to it and three men brandishing a hammer and a baseball bat approached the driver and passenger.

"The driver of the BMW left the scene and was followed by the Volkswagen, before being rammed off the road. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

"The cars have been recovered and will be forensically examined, as enquiries continue.

"At this stage, we believed this to be an isolated incident."
