Smethwick stabbing suspects released on bail

Two suspects arrested after a stabbing in Smethwick have been released on bail.

Police attended the incident in Cape Hill on October 9 with reports of 20 schoolchildren involved.

The disorder left a person with a head injury and another with a stab wound.

The road was taped off at the junction with Rosebery Road after the attack at 3.45pm.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of a weapon and 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

The suspects have been released on bail until November 6.

Later that day shots were fired from a car in Smethwick in the second drive-by shooting in 24 hours.

Up to three shots were heard in Newmans Close just before 9.30pm on October 9 and the windows of a Vauxhall Corsa were damaged.

Police said there were no reported injuries.

The shooting came 24 hours after a man was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting two miles away in Mallin Streeton on Tuesday evening.

Police are still investigating the incidents.
