A woman has been jailed after stabbing her stepfather in a frenzied attack.

Wolverhampton Crown Court

Martin Sterling feared for his life as Kiera Fowler, aged 25, lunged at him with an eight-inch-knife screaming “I will kill you,” a court heard.

She stabbed him in the chest and arms before he grabbed the blade from her and she fled, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

It happened outside the home of Fowler’s mother in Darlaston.

She was sentenced to 25 months in prison for grievous bodily harm and for carrying out threats in public with a bladed object.

Judge Dean Kershaw said: “Not only were you attacking your stepfather but you were saying you wanted to kill him.

"You swung the knife towards his neck and stabbed him three times.”

Boiling point

The knife attack was the boiling point after Fowler, of Michael Road, Darlaston, argued with her mother Jenny earlier that day, the court heard.

She called Mr Sterling, although the married couple are no longer together, and he came round to confront Fowler, at about 8.30pm.

Prosecuting, Rachel Pennington, said: “She was bouncing up and down and was red in the face and screaming ‘I will kill you’.

"Fowler then pulled out a kitchen knife from her hoodie and swung the knife at her step-father.”

Ms Pennington continued: “He felt the attack wasn’t going to stop and his life was at risk. As the adrenaline kicked in he grabbed the knife from the defendant.”

Hours after the attack, at 2.25am the next day, Fowler handed herself in to police at Jenny’s address.

Defending, John Evans, said: “She had drunk a reasonable amount of alcohol beforehand.”

The court heard Mr Sterling had brought up Fowler since she was five, and he had described their previous relationship as good.

She has five previous convictions for 17 offences including two for assaults on police.
