Man charged after ashes stolen in burglary

A man has been charged with burglary after a man's ashes were allegedly stolen from a home.

The wooden box containing the ashes was reported to have been taken along with cash and jewellery from a house in Bobbington, South Staffordshire, on June 20.

The casket was later found at the roadside after being allegedly thrown from a car.

Simon Murphy, 29, of Plym Close, Wednesfield, has been charged with a burglary on Six Ashes Road in Bobbington and a burglary on Ganton Road in Walsall, both on June 20.

He has been remanded into custody and is next due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on August 8.
