Pictures released after teen seriously injured in robbery

Pictures of a van believed to have been used in a robbery in which a teenager was seriously injured have been released by police.

The driver of a white van pulled over to ask the 18-year-old for directions in the Bloxwich area before snatching his phone.

The victim was dragged along the road while holding on to his phone on Leamore Lane at about 10pm on February 22.

The teenager was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his ribs, ankle and face.

West Midlands Police has now launched an investigation into the robbery and is trying to trace the van driver.

A force spokesman said: "Police are investigating a robbery on Leamore Lane in the Bloxwich area of Walsall just before 10pm last night where a driver of a white van stopped and asked a man for directions, before making off with his phone.

"The 18-year-old man was dragged a short distance as he held onto his phone that the driver had grabbed through the window.

"He was taken to hospital, where he remains today with serious injuries to his ribs, ankle and face.

"Enquiries continue and anyone with information is urged to contact police."

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Our initial call was to reports of a person who had been in collision with a vehicle and was in the road.

"One ambulance attended and when we arrived there was no vehicle there and the crew treated one patient at the scene before taking him to hospital."
