Man repeatedly punched in the head at Wolverhampton pub

A man has been left in a critical condition in hospital after he was punched in the head repeatedly at a Wolverhampton pub.

A fight broke out between two men in the Lyme Kaye pub ­– previously known as the White Hart – in Worcester Street in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A 25-year-old was punched to the ground and hit repeatedly in the head at around 3.15am.

He remains in hospital where he is in a critical but stable condition, a police spokesman confirmed.

West Midlands Police has now issued an urgent appeal to trace a man they want to speak to in connection with the assault.

A spokesman for the force said: "We want to speak to him urgently following an assault in Lyme Kaye pub, that took place at around 3.15am on Saturday January 19.

"A fight broke out between two men that resulted in a 25-year-old being punched to the ground and repeatedly hit in the head – he remains in hospital where he is described as being in a critical but stable condition."

Anyone who recognises the man, or has any information about the incident, is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101 quoting incident number 20WV/15282E/19.
