Appeal to catch Cannock moped thieves

Thieves made away with three motorbikes from a town centre, prompting a police appeal to catch them.

Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses following the theft from Backcrofts car park in Market Place, Cannock.

The thefts, which took place between the September 4 and 12, captured the suspected thieves on CCTV.

The first took place at around 3.35pm on September 4 when five young white males were seen in the area.

One of them was shown on CCTV making off on a bicycle, while another rode off on a stolen moped without a helmet down Avon Road towards Longford.

A second motorbike was stolen just three days later.

At around 4.30pm on September 7 five males, all wearing hoodies, were seen approaching the motorcycle bay.

Four of the suspects then headed off in the direction of Asda car park while the other ran off pushing a moped.

He then entered Asda car park before reappearing and heading towards Avon Road, then down the A34 towards Bridgetown.

The third incident happened at around 7.30pm on September 12.

Two males were caught on CCTV entering the car park, and were seen pushing a stolen motorbike down an alleyway by The Merchant pub.

They were then spotted getting on the bike before travelling through Cannock town centre and down the A34 towards Bridgetown.
