Cyclist, 77, left hurt in Codsall hit-and-run

A 77-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital after following a hit-and-run in Codsall.

The man was left injured in the road after being struck by a car, suspected to be a silver Honda Jazz, on Birches Road at around 9.30am yesterday.

Police are now hunting for the driver, who failed to stop at the scene. The cyclist was treated by paramedics and taken to New Cross Hospital.

A force spokesman said: "Staffordshire Police is appealing for witnesses following the incident at Birches Road at around 9.30am, after a suspected silver Honda Jazz saloon was in a collision with a bicycle. The driver failed to stop.

"The cyclist, from Codsall, was taken to New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton by ambulance.

"Any witnesses or anyone with information are asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 181 of September 18."
