It has certainly caused a stir with customers lining up to get selfies in front of the new sign but for Mandeep Singh Chatha it is a dream come true.

The 34 year old has opened his new off licence and convenience store on Bushbury Road, Wolverhampton, and while the sign might bear a striking resemblance to one of the country's more famous supermarkets – he explained how the name 'Singh'sbury' came about.

He said: "I decided on the name. My name is Singh and it is on Bushbury Road!"

He explained he put the two together and registered the name at Companies House.

'Singh'sbury Local' on the Bushbury Road, Wolverhampton.

Since opening in December Mandeep explained that the recognisable logo had proved a talking point for visitors, with plenty, including local police officers, amused by the branding and even taking picture in front of the sign.

Whether Sainsbury's themselves are as amused is yet to be seen.

Another business found itself in hot water over its branding – but held firm and still bears the name today.

Kent's Tuck In Fried Chicken has been on the same site in Kent Street, Upper Gornal, since 1999.

Six months after opening there was a demand from the American fast food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken to change it.

But, owner George Georgiou was adamant he would keep the name.

He said at the time: "It is called Kent's because it is on Kent Street, and Tuck Inn because that's what you do at a restaurant.

"And we sell southern fried chicken so it has got absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with Kentucky Fried Chicken."

Mandeep, who has opened the business with his wife Hardeep, said he had worked previously as a sandwich delivery driver and had dreamt of being able to open his own business – a dream he has now realised.
